Irish Fly Fair 2024 – Experiences from the Irish Fly Tying Fair
The weekend of November 16-17, 2024, was dedicated to the Irish Fly Fair, held in the picturesque town of Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. I had the privilege of being invited to this event as a fly tyer, representing Hends Products. After coordinating with my employer, I confirmed my participation and was warmly welcomed by the organizers, who introduced me on the official website of the fair.
The Journey to Ireland
Together with a colleague who lives nearby, we planned our trip. On the morning of November 16, we set out for Düsseldorf Airport, where we boarded a direct flight to Dublin. After a 1 hour and 50-minute flight, we met up with two other friends—also fly tyers—and continued by bus to Enniskillen. The journey took approximately 3.5 hours, but even on the bus, we began discussing fly fishing and eagerly anticipated the event.
A Weekend Full of Inspiration
Upon arrival, we checked into a hotel with excellent facilities and friendly staff. We spent the evening together over dinner, sharing experiences and discussing plans for the coming days.
The first day of the fair exceeded my expectations with its massive attendance and the presence of some of the world’s best fly tyers. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of questions visitors asked me, and I was happy to share my advice and tips. At the same time, I gained plenty of new inspiration for my own fly tying from my fellow tyers.
Why Visit the Irish Fly Fair?

I look forward to the next edition and hope to see you there!
